The University of Kentucky conducts this three day institute twice per year to highlight, for business executives, the value of applying lean principles in their organizations. The Institute provides opportunities to:
One – Explore the foundations of the highly successful Toyota Production System by participating in discussions and Q & A that are an intregal part of the course.
Two – Discover practical insights into utilizing Lean’s guiding principles to lead a successful transformation of your organization.
Three – Witness examples of TPS successfully applied in real industries, including Toyota’s first wholly owned American Plant now producing all Camrys worldwide. Plus a first-hand look at one of Kentucky’s signature industries while touring a distillery that’s over 100 years old. Both are walking tours — you will get to see many lean activities in practice.
Key topics will include:
- The pillars of a lean business philosophy
- The competitive strength of learning organizations
- Lean system operations
- Management structure and measurement systems that support and sustain an ongoing lean transformation
|Activities are led by our experienced faculty and Toyota executives. Walking tours of Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky (based on availability*) and Buffalo Trace Distillery will provide the opportunity to “go and see” lean principles in action. *When Toyota Tour is unavailable there will either be a tour of another local business that is practicing lean, or a detailed video created by Toyota will be shown.
The current fee for the institute, meals, and all events is $3,500 (U.S. dollars only). For two or more participants, a quantity discount fee of $3,200 per person is available.
